Return of Michelangelo's Slaves to the Louvre Sculptures

11 Apr 2022 Lp Art Manutentions

Two statues by Michelangelo, "The Rebellious Slave" and "The Dying Slave", which remained outside for 250 years before entering the Louvre in 1994, had suffered from climatic hazards. After a skillful restoration entrusted to the restorers of the Center for Research and Restoration of the Museums of France (C2RMF), they have been back in the Department of Sculptures since March 22, 2022.
These two masterpieces, each weighing approximately one ton, were put back in place by an LP Art team led by Thierry Dieudonnat, one of the most experienced installers in our company.
